Michael Ciesinski -- President & CEO

Michael Ciesinski was appointed CEO of the U.S. Display Consortium in April 1995. From 1991-1995, Ciesinski was Vice-President and Director of North American Operations for Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), a worldwide trade association representing capital equipment and materials companies. At SEMI, he managed the Information and Communications Group, which includes market data, on-line market reports, electronic communications, education and training, and public relations. He also directed SEMI's North American Operations, which included regional offices, a variety of industry programs, and all flat panel display activity.

From mid-1998 through mid-1990, Ciesinski directed worldwide marketing and communications activities for SEMI. In 1984, he opened SEMI's Washington, D.C. office and managed its government relations program until May 1998. Michael Ciesinski joined SEMI in 1982 in the standards and technology department.

Michael Ciesinski is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. He is a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the U.S. Display Consortium.

 

Dr. Mark Hartney-- CTO

Dr. Mark Hartney joined USDC in June 2007 as Chief Technical Officer. As CTO, Mark will manage all technical activities of the USDC, including: working with industry on the proposal and selection process of technical projects; management of project contracts; communication with government sponsors; chairing the USDC Technical Council; and all other activities involved with fulfilling the organization’s technical mission.

From 2005 to 1996, Mark worked as a market strategist for semiconductor, consumer electronics and storage companies. First at dpiX, a display and sensor company, next at Silicon Image, an electronics developer and manufacturer, and finally as principal with Table Talk Consulting.

From 1992 to 1996, Mark worked in a variety of positions in Washington DC executing federal policy and managed projects on both semiconductor manufacturing and displays, at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Mark also held positions at MIT Lincoln Labs and AT&T Bell Labs.

Mark is a graduate of MIT (B.S. and M.S.) and earned his doctoral degree at University of California at Berkeley. He has over 60 technical publications, 100 conference presentations and 4 issued patents.

Heidi Hoffman -- Director of Marketing, Communications & Events

Heidi has been involved with USDC since its inception in 1993. Her current role includes management of the USDC industry events and communicating the organization's activities to USDC partners and members. Prior to this, Heidi worked as USDC's communications consultant from her firm, Trebuchet Communications.

Heidi has experience managing the User Groups, the Sustaining Division, organizing multiple industry trade shows, (while employed by USDC partner, Semiconductor Equipment & Materials International -- SEMI). Heidi has also been involved with USDC as a member, while she was handling corporate communications activities for Novalux.

Prior to joining USDC and SEMI as their Washington Representative, Heidi was a Senior International Trade Specialist with the U.S. Department of Commerce, where she built industry ties between the government and the private-sector, and analyzed the competitiveness of the U.S. electronics industry. Heidi received her formal education in International Relations at Mankato State University in Minnesota.

 

Kay Mascoli -- Director of Planning & Development

Kay Mascoli joined USDC in April 2007, as Director of Planning & Development. In this position, Kay will manage the organizational activities of USDC’s new flexible electronics initiative, including corporate & academic outreach.

Kay has held positions as director of marketing & government relations for Ultratech Stepper, as principal consultant at Regis McKenna for Apple Computer, AT&T, & RR Donnelly, & at a start-up as VP of marketing & business development. She has also held positions in the public sector, starting new initiatives as director of workforce development for Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network, & director of marketing & public policy for SEMI. She also formed a consulting firm, KGM Group, offering event & project management for conferences, trade shows, & community advocacy

Kay is a graduate of Santa Clara University, & has served on the board of directors for several non-profits, including the YWCA. She was a recipient of the Tribute to Women in Industry Award, & has been an active member of a number of high tech executive committees & working groups.

 

J. Kevin Cammack -- Director of Technical Marketing & Industry Development

Dr. Kevin Cammack joined USDC in January, 2008 as Director of Technical Marketing and Corporate Development. In this position, Kevin will manage technical activities for USDC's new flexible electronics initiative, including technical and market reporting and analysis; management of project contracts; and outreach activities to the financial and entrepreneurial communities.

Most recently Kevin has worked as a business development consultant to pre-funding startups in the solar and biomedical areas, and as COO and co-founder of GrowthLogic Labs, a marketing optimization firm he founded out of business school. Prior to GrowthLogic, Kevin was a Senior Scientist at Nitto Denko, managing a team of scientists and engineers developing optically active materials for OLEDs, photo-assisted drug delivery and holographic displays as well as creating a joint R&D venture with Zebra Imaging and the Univ. of AZ. Kevin also held positions at CalTech and the Univ. of AZ's Optical Materials and Technology Laboratory.

Kevin is a graduate of Stanford Business School where he was a Sloan Fellow, earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and his BS (Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Florida. He has more than a dozen technical publications, 11 patents and a distinguished research award from NASA/JPL.
