USDC Inaugurates Display Industry CEO Forum

Industry Executives to Discuss Customer Requirements
and Future Trends
 

 

SAN JOSE, CA, January 31, 2002 - The U.S. Display Consortium (USDC) announced today the first CEO Forum for the flat panel display industry. The forum will be held on February 13, 2002 at the DoubleTree Hotel Guest Suites in Phoenix, Arizona. USDC will host more than 50 CEOs and senior managers at a forum providing high-level interaction to address challenges facing the display industry and the means to capitalize on emerging opportunities.

"The display industry has been through a tremendous transformation in the past few years, as product demand has moved beyond portable PCs to many new applications. While these changes have identified some roadblocks for the industry, it is vital to focus on the new avenues of opportunity that are being created," said Michael Ciesinski, President and CEO of USDC. "USDC intends to create a forum where the industry's decision makers can come together to dialogue, build their knowledge base, and agree on the directions needed to develop our industry to its full potential."

All of the companies participating in the forum play a role in the $25B flat panel display market that, according to market research firm Stanford Resources, Inc., will grow to $70B by 2005. PCs, cellular telephones, digital cameras and personal digital assistants (PDAs) are important and viable display markets. New applications driven by consumers' desire for enhanced communications devices will include includes e-books, information kiosks, home theaters and new forms of electronic signage.
