USDC ANNOUNCES FORMAL AGENDA
FOR UPCOMING
DISPLAY INDUSTRY INVESTMENT CONFERENCE
-The U.S. Display Consortium (USDC), a public/private partnership chartered with developing the flat panel display (FPD) industry infrastructure, today unveiled the formal agenda for its eighth annual Display Industry Investment Conference, to be held Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York, N.Y. Co-sponsored by Needham & Co., this year's agenda includes presentations by senior executives from leading publicly traded companies within the FPD sector. Specifically, the conference will educate participants from prominent investment firms, brokerages, research houses and related financial institutions on the latest advancements, trends and business strategies associated with one of today's fastest growing technology sectors.
"In a very challenging electronics market, the FPD market grew by 27 percent in 2002, and is forecasted to grow 24 percent in 2003, based on the increased demand for larger, higher quality displays in everything from cell phones to large-screen TVs. The rapid growth of this market will continue-surpassing $67 billion by 2006-making the display-technology companies ideal investment candidates," noted Paul Semenza, executive vice president of iSuppli/Stanford Resources, who will be presenting an in-depth analysis and forecast of the FPD market during the conference.
Kicking off this year's conference will be a keynote address by Matt Medeiros, former CEO of Philips Components, titled, "Wake Up! It IS a Display-centric World!" Medeiros' presentation will provide insights into the display-centric world we live in and its future. In addition, the keynote will explain what it will take for FPD manufacturers to succeed in this new ecosystem, as well as highlight trends that are becoming increasingly common in this sector.
New to the conference will be short tutorials that will explain important aspects of the FPD industry. The tutorial sessions include:
-
"Steady Growth: LCDs for non-PC Markets"-Omid Milani, NEC Electronics America
-
"Analysis of the $1B+ Display Glass Market"-Donald B. McNaughton, Corning
