USDC Announces Preliminary Agenda for 2007 Displays & Emerging Electronics Investment Conference

Applied Materials’ Tom Edman Will Provide Keynote Address

 

San Jose , Calif. , February 12, 2007 – The U.S. Display Consortium ( USDC), a public/private partnership chartered with developing the flat panel display (FPD) industry infrastructure, today announced the keynote speakers for its upcoming Displays & Emerging Electronics Investment Conference. Co-sponsored by Needham & Company, LLC, a nationally recognized investment banking and asset management firm, the conference will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York City. The preliminary agenda features an impressive lineup of speakers from public and private companies across the electronic display value-chain, as well as from expert market analysts.

David Barnes, vice president of strategic analysis for market research firm DisplaySearch, will kick off the agenda with a morning keynote address on the market conditions and outlook for the LCD industry. LCDs have now achieved 25% market share of the television market, and Barnes will address how tightening capacity in this and other segments of the display industry will impact continued growth prospects.

The luncheon keynote will be delivered by Tom Edman, vice president/general manager for the Emerging Business Group at Applied Materials. Edman, formerly President/ CEO of Applied Films, will review manufacturing challenges presented by “Tomorrow’s Fabs.”

Kenny Kim, senior vice president of Korean display market research firm, DisplayBank, will close the conference with an afternoon address on technology and market trends.
